Do NOT Overreach, Sunglasses for Eye Health, Exercising Unilaterally
Do NOT Overreach
It may seem quicker and easier to reach out and grab or pick something up, but by taking the extra step and getting your entire body close to the object, the stress applied to the body is significantly reduced. Getting the object closer to your center of gravity will keep most forces from the object on your skeleton and the larger, stronger muscles of the body, rather than on the smaller muscles, joints, and ligaments.
Sunglasses for Eye Health
Yes, sunglasses can look good, but they serve a much greater purpose, especially on sunny days! Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays, which can over time lead to eye damage and chronic eye impairment. Additionally, if the sunglasses are polarized, they will help reduce glare, giving better visibility when driving.
Exercising Unilaterally
Most people have a dominant side, which typically is the side they subconsciously use. Consequently, this becomes the stronger side. Muscular imbalance can cause a variety of problems in the body. From walking with an altered gait to having shoulders at different heights, there can be many physical ramifications. When you work out using both sides, you can typically compensate with the stronger side. Using dumbbells or single-leg exercises can help correct these imbalances by prioritizing the weaker side's weight or rep range.
