Practice Safe Ladder Use

When using a ladder, be aware of potential risks. Inspect the ladder for any damage, such as cracks or dents, and do not use it if any damage is present. Ensure the ladder is on solid, even ground. Maintain three points of contact while climbing, and avoid overreaching by keeping the ladder close to your work. Finally, watch your foot placement when stepping down, as studies have shown that 20% of ladder-related injuries result from missing the last rung.

Shoulder D2 PNF Patterns

D2 Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) patterns are diagonal movements used in rehabilitation and strength training to improve shoulder function, often performed with resistance bands. The D2 extension pattern moves the arm from the opposite hip to an overhead, outward position (as if drawing a sword). The D2 flexion pattern reverses this motion, bringing the arm back down across the body (as if buckling a seatbelt). These patterns activate multiple muscle groups, enhance neuromuscular control, and improve functional movement.

Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact of stress on mental and physical health. Chronic stress can lead to anxiety, high blood pressure, and weakened immunity. Managing stress involves practicing mindfulness, exercising regularly, sleeping well, and setting healthy boundaries. Breathing exercises and taking breaks throughout the day can also help. Prioritizing self-care, staying connected with loved ones, and seeking support when needed are key to reducing stress and improving overall well-being.
