PREVENTING PROLONGED SITTING

Sitting for extended periods, whether in a chair or a vehicle, can harm your body. Staying in one position for too long can shorten your muscles, reduce circulation, and increase your risk of stiffness and fatigue. Incorporate the motto “Motion is Lotion” into your daily habits by getting up to do light stretches or “reverse posture” movements every 20-30 minutes.

MINDFUL MEDITATION

Mindfulness Meditation is a practice that has existed for centuries, involving peaceful relaxation while focusing on one’s present experience. Taking just a few minutes each day to practice can help with physical relaxation, emotional regulation, attention, and emotional balance. Additionally, it has been shown to help with self-awareness and self-judgment. These benefits can help reduce stress and promote greater physiological calm. Best of all, it requires only your attention to practice!

DECLINE ECCENTRIC SQUATS

Decline Eccentric Squats are a great variation of a typical squat. To perform them, use a 25° slanted board and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart on the decline. While maintaining an upright posture, begin a slow, controlled descent into a squat over a 5-second period. Squat down until your hips are in line with your knees. Focus on the descent, not coming back up.

Perform 3 sets for 8-10 reps.
