Egress/Ingress Ergonomics, Epsom Salt Uses, Hip Flexor Stretch

Egress/Ingress Ergonomics

One of the most common causes of workplace injuries occurs during the simple act of entering or exiting a vehicle. Taking a few extra seconds to use safe habits can prevent slips, trips, and falls. Always face the vehicle when getting in or out and maintain three points of contact. Utilize two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand until both feet are securely on the ground. Avoid jumping from the cab or trailers as this can increase the risk of injury. Watch for uneven or slippery surfaces, and ensure your footing is stable before walking away.

Epsom Salt Uses

Epsom salt baths can be a simple recovery tool to help relieve muscle soreness and discomfort after physically demanding work, exercise, or prolonged activity. Add Epsom salt to a warm bath to help create a relaxing environment that promotes muscle relaxation, reduces stiffness, and supports recovery by increasing circulation through heat. Soaking for 15–30 minutes after activity can help ease tension and provide temporary relief from tired, achy muscles. Use as directed and avoid applying to irritated or broken skin.

Hip Flexor Stretch

The couch stretch is an effective exercise for improving hip flexor flexibility, especially for individuals who spend long periods sitting or driving. Tight hip flexors can contribute to lower back discomfort, poor posture, and restricted movement during lifting, climbing, and walking. Place one knee on the floor against a wall or bench with the same-side foot elevated behind you, while the opposite foot is planted in front. Keep your torso upright, engage your core, and gently shift your hips forward until you feel a stretch in the front of your hip. Hold for 20–30 seconds and repeat on both sides. Use a towel or pad to support the knee.
