Utilizing Mechanical Advantage to Pull Cable, Ankle Range of Motion, Reduce the Bloat

Utilizing Mechanical Advantage to Pull Cable

Pulling cable can be one of the most demanding tasks on the job site. Cable gauges often vary, and with this, the weight also changes. Utilizing a winch line to pull in large gauge spans will reduce the risk of an overuse injury during this task. For jobs where the winch line is not feasible, a tool such as the Greenline G1 Versi-Tugger is an excellent option. When used correctly, the Versi-tugger allows splicers to pull cable quickly and easily without the risk of musculoskeletal strain.

Ankle Range of Motion

One cause of knee, ankle, and lower back pain is the inability of the ankle to go into dorsiflexion. This limitation often hinders our mechanics when walking and running, causing compensations in larger joints such as the hips and knees. One exercise to help this is a half (cut horizontally) foam roller balance. To do this:

  • Place the foam roller perpendicular to your toes.

  • Stand, feet together, on the foam roller with only the balls of your feet, and balance for 30” three times.

Reduce the Bloat

Ever eat a large bowl of spaghetti and feel like there is a brick in your stomach? It can leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable, giving the pasta a bad reputation. This bloat may not be due to the “carbs” you eat but rather the quality of the pasta you consume. If this sounds typical to you, try consuming organic pasta next time. Organic pasta has no pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers and is not fortified or enriched with additional ingredients. The only ingredients should be durum semolina and water. Try this for your next pasta night and see if it helps!
