Vibration

Prolonged exposure to vibration at work can lead to long-term issues and injuries. These complications can include an increased risk of pain in the back, neck, hands, shoulders, and hips. On rare occasions, vibration exposure can lead to hand-arm vibration syndrome, whole-body vibration syndrome, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Remember to take micro-pause breaks and rotate job tasks when using tools that vibrate, such as a jackhammer or chainsaw, to help reduce prolonged vibration exposure.

National Kidney Cancer Awareness

March is Kidney Cancer Awareness Month. Kidneys act as the body’s filtration system, removing waste and excess fluid, which helps to regulate blood pressure and electrolyte balance.

Symptoms of kidney cancer include:

  • blood in urine

  • Loss of appetite

  • Constant side or back pain

  • unexplained weight loss

Be sure to speak with your physician if you experience any new symptoms.

Clam Shells

Place a resistance band around your legs just above your knees and lie down on your side with your knees bent to 90 degrees. Make sure your knees and ankles are stacked on top of each other. While keeping your feet together, lift the top knee up, opening your hips like a shell, and slowly return to the starting position. Repeat this motion for 3 sets of 8-12 reps to help strengthen your glutes.
