Lower Materials Safely, World Mental Health Day, Reverse Chin Tucks

Lower Materials Safely

Using proper body mechanics when lowering materials to the ground will minimize strain. The squat lower technique involves bending at the knees and hips, keeping the back straight, and engaging the core to lower items. For lighter objects, the golfer’s squat lower technique is ideal; balance on one leg while extending the other backward for stability, keeping the back straight. Both methods prioritize joint alignment and reduce stress on the lower back and knees.

World Mental Health Day

Every year on October 10th, World Mental Health Day is observed to raise awareness of the importance of mental health. Emotional well-being is a key component of leading a healthy life, and people should be encouraged to have open conversations about this topic; doing so can help reduce stigma. Use this day as a reminder to prioritize self-care and seek help when you need it. Resources like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offer vital support, providing education, helplines, and tools to foster mental well-being for all.

Reverse Chin Tucks

Reverse Chin Tucks help strengthen neck muscles, improve posture, and reduce tension.

  1. Lie face down with your forehead resting on a small towel. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides.

  2. Tuck your chin toward your neck, creating a “double chin,” while keeping your neck and shoulders relaxed.

  3. Keeping the chin tucked, slowly lift your head and neck slightly off the surface without arching your back.

  4. Slowly lower back down to the starting position. Perform 3 sets of 10.
