Ergonomics of Bucket Work

Working in a bucket truck presents ergonomic challenges like awkward postures and limited space, leading to risks of musculoskeletal injuries in the back, neck, and shoulders. To reduce risk, ensure tools are within easy reach to prevent excessive stretching or twisting. Utilize the bucket's positioners to maintain a neutral body posture. Incorporate micro-stretch breaks and shifting weight to mitigate prolonged static loading.

Heat Illness Signs & Symptoms

Managing heat stress is all about early detection. When the body can't cool itself down fast enough, symptoms can escalate quickly from "uncomfortable" to "life-threatening."

  1. Heat Cramps: Muscle pain or spasms & Heavy sweating

  2. Heat Exhaustion: Dizziness, lightheaded, headache, nausea/vomiting, pale, cool and clammy skin, fast, weak pulse, heavy sweating, and fainting.

  3. Heat Stroke: Body Temperature above 103, Altered mental state, hot, red, dry skin, rapid strong pulse, loss of consciousness.

Serratus Anterior Exercise

The Serratus Anterior is a fan-shaped muscle on the rib cage, crucial for shoulder health and known as the "Boxer's Muscle." It functions to protract (pull forward) and rotate the shoulder blade, preventing painful "scapular winging" and shoulder impingement. To activate it via Wall Pushes (Wall Slides), stand facing a wall and press your forearms into it. Next, push your shoulder blades away from your spine, then slide your arms slowly up the wall. This protraction is key to stabilizing the shoulder.
