Micro Pause Stretches, A Heart Healthy Thanksgiving, Push Ups

Micro Pause Stretches

Whether working in the field or at a desk, using micro-pause breaks to stretch is essential. When maintaining a static posture, the muscles used can fatigue over time. Taking the time to stretch can reduce the risk of ergonomic injuries. Rest is essential for maintaining a healthy musculoskeletal system, and taking frequent breaks from work can be highly beneficial. Simply taking 30 to 60 seconds to stretch at least once an hour can help reduce fatigue and overexertion on your body.

A Heart Healthy Thanksgiving

For most, Thanksgiving is about spending time with family and friends, and, of course, enjoying delicious food. Unfortunately, traditional Thanksgiving feasts include foods that are not always heart-healthy. Thankfully, there are plenty of health-conscious Thanksgiving foods to enjoy. Turkey is already a very lean protein, and it has even fewer calories and fat in the breast meat, specifically. Additionally, consider using low-sodium broth in gravy, prioritizing fresh steamed vegetables, and using fresh berries to make cranberry sauce to boost the nutritional value of your Thanksgiving meal.

Push Ups

The push-up is a highly popular exercise that can be performed anywhere and is excellent for burning calories and building muscle. To begin the push-up, lie on your stomach with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Feet should be hip-width apart and parallel to each other. While engaging your core and squeezing your glutes, push up through your hands at the elbows until your arms are straight. Lower yourself back down, almost to the ground, and continue to repeat the motion.
